Flawless & Lawless (Remake)
A stealth-driven, item-hoarding heist game where you play as a robber infiltrating an office building. Use stealth, tricks, and limited carrying capacity to grab as much loot as you can without raising suspicion. Currently in development in Unreal Engine 5 as both a gameplay overhaul and an Unreal learning project.
Overview
This is an in-progress remake of my earlier cancelled game "Flawless & Lawless", now being rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. Inspired by my own hoarding tendencies to loot in open-world games, this remake focuses on calculated risk and decision-making. Players must navigate each floor of a corporate building, stealing items while avoiding suspicion from employees, surveillance systems, and security.
The project is an ongoing learning experience to deepen my understanding of Unreal Engine and create a more fun and engaging core game loop than the original (which didn't really have one).
Gameplay Features
- Steal as Much as You Can
The player must carefully choose what to steal, as loot slows you down and makes you more suspicious, which encourages you to make smart decisions.
- Suspicion-Based AI
Instead of instantly chasing you, employees become suspicious over time. Maxing out their suspicion meter alerts security.
- Surveillance Systems
Navigate around security cameras or find creative ways to disable or avoid them.
- Progression & Upgrades
Money earned from loot can be spent on upgrades between floors to improve stealth, mobility, or provide new tools.
- Dynamic Floor Layouts
Each floor increases in complexity and risk, encouraging adaptability and planning.
Development Goals
- Create a satisfying and replayable experience with a clear, fun game loop.
- Focus on moment-to-moment decision-making and strategic resource management.
- Use the project as a practical way to learn and apply Unreal Engine 5 systems including AI behavior, UI, animation, and many other things UE has to offer.
