Overview

Flawless & Lawless is a level-based 3D stealth game where you play as a robber working your way up an office building. Each floor presents new objectives that must be completed before the elevator unlocks and you can move to the next level. Along the way, you must avoid being spotted by employees, who will try to stop you if they notice you.

Gameplay Features

  • Stealth and Objectives: Stay out of sight, complete required tasks, and reach the next floor.
  • Tools and Items: Pick up helpful items like soda for stamina or a gun to deal with pesky employees.
  • Interactive World: Includes various non-functional interactables that help bring the environment to life.
  • Systems: Inventory with a hotbar, and a dynamic objective system.

Development Details

  • Engine: Unity (developed in 2017-2018)
  • Assets: All 3D models, environment animations, and code created by me. Character animations were sourced from Mixamo.
  • AI: Basic line-of-sight detection system for NPCs.

What I Learned

Although the game was eventually cancelled, this project taught me a lot about game development. I jumped in without a clear plan or prototype, which led to a gameplay loop that felt more like a chore than something fun. Despite this, I gained hands-on experience with systems design, 3D modeling, animation integration, and the importance of prototyping and iteration in the early stages of development.
